Using Library Databases

BHCC Library subscribes to hundreds of different databases covering virtually all subject areas and containing all sorts of helpful materials.  

US History Databases

Infobase's Issues and Controversies in American History provides articles with contemporary viewpoints on major debates and controversies throughout American History.

Access thousands of primary sources, primarily pertaining to the Civil Rights Movement and Women's History.

Academic Search Premier from EBSCO contains thousands of articles and other electronic resources covering topics in American History as well as many other subject areas.

Gale in Context: Databases for US History

Gale provides access to a wide range of electronic resources including newspapers, journals, encyclopedias, and more in their In Context: US History database.

Find a wide variety of electronic resources about important figures throughout American History with the In Context: Biography database.

Newspaper Databases

BHCC Library subscribes to several databases dedicated to historical newspapers.  Here are a few of those databases that students can access:

Through ProQuest, BHCC students have access to historical issues of The Boston Globe dating from 1872 to 1988.

EBSCO's primary newspaper database provides students with access to dozens of major US newspapers as well as other newspapers from around the world.
