General Format

Introduction

  • Context: What is the topic? Why is this an interesting topic/issue to explore?
  • Acknowledgement of different viewpoints on the particular topic/issue (Your argument + Counter-arguments)
  • Thesis (Your argument)

Background Information

  • What is the history of this issue? Why are people talking about this issue?
  • Key vocabulary words and definitions associated with the topic/issue
  • Restatement of different viewpoints along with your argument on the topic/issue (thesis)

Supporting Evidence

  • State your argument (thesis)
  • State evidence that supports your argument (research component)
  • Explain evidence that supports your argument (research component)
  • Discredit counter-arguments (research component)

Remote Access

You need your library barcode number and four digit pin to access databases from off campus. Your four digit pin can be reset or given to you at the library's front desk.

Your library barcode can be found on your Student ID.

If you have the OneCard ID, you can find your barcode number on the back of your card.
