ACRL Framework for Information Literacy : Home

What is the Framework?

In 2016, The Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL) adopted the Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education and in 2016 the older (2000)  Information Literacy Competency Standards for Higher Education were retired.  The Framework is intended as a guiding document for the teaching of information literacy skills and concepts in high education while providing flexibility for interpretation and implementation at the local level to meet the needs of individual institutions. You can download a full copy of the Framework by clicking here.

Using the Framework

The BHCC Library and Learning Commons is working to align the threshold concepts described in the ACRL Framework with information literacy student outcomes and the BHCC general education student learning outcomes.
